This course is designed to provide classroom and live-fire experience with firearms, in a small group and safe environment. This course is designed for beginners and shooters who are new to handguns.
By the end of the course, participants will be able to
Describe the different types of pistols, their parts and operation
Identify types and calibers of ammunition
Be able to load and unload a firearm using “dummy” ammunition
Demonstrate effective firing stance, grip and use of handgun sights
Recite the four rules of gun safety
Demonstrate safe handgun handling skills
Safely shoot static targets
Identify common gun cleaning supplies
This course is open to people ages 18 and older.
If you already own a handgun, you are welcomed to bring it with you. We reserve the right to take a firearm off the line if we think it represents a safety risk to participants, instructors or others.
Participants must bring eye and ear protection. Ammunition may be purchased onsite. Participants are responsible for range fees ($10 per person).
